With deep sorrow and profound sadness, we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Barry Cocheu, a cherished husband, devoted father of five, and accomplished entrepreneur. Barry passed away unexpectedly while accompanying a senior trip in Mexico. He was 61 years old.
Originally from El Paso, Texas, Barry had called Houston home for many years, where he built both a thriving business and a beautiful family life. He is survived by his loving wife, Kara Cocheu, and their five children — four daughters and one son — who were the center of his universe.
Barry was best known for his warmth, generosity, and the unshakable positivity that radiated from his ever-present smile. He was the kind of man who showed up for everyone — whether you were family, friend, or stranger. His presence could fill a room, and his energy uplifted everyone around him. Those close to Barry remember him not only as a successful businessman but as a true mentor, leader, and friend.
Professionally, Barry made a lasting mark in the health and wellness industry. He was the Chief Executive Officer of WBRx Biologics and Wellness BioSciences Rx, leading both organizations with vision and heart. His career in global business development, wellness innovation, and entrepreneurship spanned more than two decades. As co-founder and CEO of AmeriSciences, he grew the company from the ground up to reach $400 million in sales over 12 years, touching countless lives in the process.
Barry earned his Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Physiology from California State University, Northridge, where he was also part of the 1984 national championship baseball team. He carried the lessons of teamwork and discipline from the field into every aspect of his life.
Despite his incredible professional success, Barry’s proudest role was that of a family man. His love and dedication to Kara and their children were unwavering, and he often spoke of his family as his greatest accomplishment.
A GoFundMe fundraiser launched by family friend Nikki echoes the heartbreak of the community:
“We are heartbroken to share the sudden and tragic loss of Barry Cocheu—a devoted father, a beloved husband and best friend, and a loyal friend to many… His smile lit up every room he entered, and his spirit lives in his children’s eyes.”
Barry’s legacy will live on in the countless lives he inspired, the people he helped, and the love he gave so freely. His loss leaves an irreplaceable void, but his light and lessons will guide his loved ones forever.
A celebration of Barry’s life will be announced in the coming days. In the meantime, the family welcomes prayers, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
